The Collaborative X-Tremers are a creative team of six changemakers — Chosen, Elijah, Shianah, Vivian, Maria, and James — from Wampi-Wontake Secondary School. As part of the YouthLearn Africa Digital Changemakers program, they are using media to speak about who they are and the kind of future they want. Their work includes a powerful group poem, “We Are the Changers of the World,” and two short story projects: “Skill to Service: The Pop-Up Classroom” and “More Than Money.” Together, they explore how young people can turn skills into service and grief into action.

We Are the Changers of the World

This group poem is a shared voice from the Collaborative X-Tremers, declaring who they are, what they see around them, and the change they want to spark. It’s a reminder that even as students, they already carry the power to shift their community, one small action at a time.

Skill to Service: The Pop-Up Classroom

In “Skill to Service: The Pop-Up Classroom,” the team follows a student who stops waiting for job replies and instead turns her baking skill into a small “pop-up” classroom at school. By teaching her peers, tracking costs, and serving simple, affordable snacks, she shows that skills become powerful when they are shared, measured, and used to serve real needs.

More Than Money

“More Than Money” tells the quiet, emotional story of a sibling looking back on the day a family memeber fell sick and help was delayed because of money. Instead of blaming, the story turns grief into a gentle call for preparedness simple emergency plans, basic first aid, and the courage to ask for urgent care so no one else has to stand helpless at a door again.
