YOUTH VOICES AND STORIES

Their work includes a shared group poem, “We Are the Ambassadors of Our Future,” and two story projects: “Had I Known How Nature Cries” and “Not Just Noise: How We Can Make Schools Safe.” Together, they show that young people don’t just complain about problems they organize, take small actions, and invite others to join.

Had I Known How Nature Cries

“Had I Known How Nature Cries” follows a student who suddenly wakes up to the “cry” of nature in their own school: harsh heat, bare ground, and fewer birds. Instead of just feeling sad, they start a tiny tree nursery with friends, map the hottest spots, and create a simple routine to water and protect new seedlings proving that even small, student led actions can cool a compound and bring life back.

Not Just Noise: How We Can Make Schools Safe

In “Not Just Noise: How We Can Make Schools Safe,” Helen is tired of bullying and unfair treatment being treated like “just noise.” With two friends, she quietly builds a process: keeping an incident log, going to a safe adult, asking for a guided restorative circle, and helping her class create a Safety Charter. The story shows that safety isn’t a favor from adults — it’s a right that becomes real when students use clear steps to report harm and walk with each other.
